How long are the sessions?

The duration of the session takes between 50-60 minutes on average, but there is no such limitation. Depending on the course of the session and the condition of the client, it can take up to 90 minutes.

I want to take my child to a pedagogue, do you have a pedagogue?

This concept, unfortunately, is misused today, it is often confused with the child psychologist. A pedagogue is literally a person who teaches children. However, the pedagogy department in Turkey was closed with the law that came into force in 1982. Therefore, new specialist pedagogues have not been trained in our country for a long time. People who provide therapy or psychological counseling to children are clinical psychologists who specialize in the field of children.

Can psychologists prescribe medication?

Psychologists are graduates of the Department of Psychology of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of universities, they are not doctors because they are graduates of the Faculty of Medicine. Doctors can prescribe medications.

I want to come for a single session. How useful is it?

For us, the first two or three sessions are spent getting to know the person and understanding the problem. In this case, it varies from person to person. However, a single session is not enough. Since the first session is spent only getting information and listening to the problem applied, there is no intervention used.

How many sessions do I need to attend?

Therapies begin once or twice a week at first.  The frequency of arrival may vary depending on the problem and severity of the client. Again, how long the sessions will last in total varies according to the person and the current situation applied.  When the psychologist gets to know the person, clarifies the problem and decides what kind of intervention method he chooses, he informs the client about the process.

How long should my session interval be?

Our sessions usually take place once a week. It also varies according to the problem experienced. In the evaluation sessions, the frequency of the sessions is clarified after the person recognizes and understands the problem.

How do I decide on the right psychologist for me?

First of all, it is necessary that the bachelor’s degree be in psychology, and do not hesitate to ask about the diploma related to this.  You can ask how long he has worked in the profession, whether he has working experience related to the problem you are applying for, what kind of interventions he has made. In addition to these, you can also learn about the trainings he has received.

How can I trust that what I share here will remain private?

Psychotherapy processes protect the safety of the client within the framework of ethical rules. There is a “Confidentiality Agreement” in the ethical rules. This agreement is definitely formed between the client who starts therapy and the psychologist. Every information told by the client remains confidential.  Only when a situation outside the ethical rules occurs, that is, in the face of events in which the client will be dangerous and harmed or harm someone else, the specialist can violate this agreement by protecting the rights of the client and contact the necessary places within the knowledge of the client.

When will the sessions end?

Considering the problem and severity of the client, the duration varies according to the need and the target set. There is no single method and intervention used, and generalizations about the duration of the sessions are not correct, with factors that vary from person to person.
